Blue blue blue

We got a lot of blue items from the students. I love the range in materials and items that people were inclined to bring in. We have anywhere from a pen to a iron to a mascarade mask. I dont see cluter when I see this table, I just see blue. I love when everything is the same color, it calms the color organizing OCD i have inside me my favorite item would probably have to be the blue mask because it is just so different from everything else that people brought in. On the table there is a lot of repeat topics.  Many students brought in some sort of school supplies, whether its. A pen, a folder, a paper, a lunch tray or a textbook, and so on.  Another category was beauty supply; body mists, and nail polish and perfume and more.  The final popular category was cleaning supplies; sponges and cleaners and water helped fill the table. This shows what kinda of people we are, the kind that our daily lives involve just this, working and school and looks.  We are a moving society that cares a lot about our looks and our appearence and that is replicated in our blue collection.

Hoarding or Collecting?

Theres a difference, a big one.  A collection is something that a person has a desire for a specific item or types of items that all get gathered together. Thats what collecting is, to gather. Hoarding however is like clutter that somehow people have connections too. Clutter like old magazines and used paper plates. A collection is something fun while hoarding is somewhat of a problem.  I have a collection at my home. A few different ones actually. I collect them for the fun of knowing one day i will have a lot. I have many snow globes from all over America and sometimes elsewhere. I also have a collection of foreign money. I collect because they are fun to look at, and fun to have knowing they could be cool to pass down one day.  If i were a hoarder i would probably not even be able to get rid of some broken snow globes, so thankfully this is a safe collection. The artists we learned about were all very interesting but many had a lot o hoarding tendencies that made me cringe. So much junk is just no good no matter what. Im glad im just a collector.

Contrast and Compare

Out of the two drawings we have done so far, i dont know if i have a favorite. They both are starting to look developed and i like little parts of each of them. I got more into the bike drawing faster, and it came a little more naturally to me then the colors. However, the colors give me a challenge an is a lot of fun to mix and match. The styles and number of color conbinations is unimaginable. I might like the candy drawing if it turns out the way it should, but i wont know until I am done! Some of the challenges i will face is what to do about labels and names and crinkles nothings. And maybe i will draw some, maybe i will make up some, but my drawing will end up being what i want it to be. Hopefully real looking and unique. This has been a lot of fun working on these projects so far this year and i hope we continue to have this much fun.

Candy candy candy!

I'm going to be honest, it took me almost two weeks to finally be able to start this drawing. I was so stressed by all the color choices and thought i had already been at my max with the bike. Therefore, i finally started, i worked hard at the lid and am finally starting to work at the candy inside. I like to make it as real as possible so i am trying my best and worked hard! These colors work in so many different ways and the blending is uncountable! It started to be a lot of fun and now i dont hold off coloring anymore! I just jump right in! I finally finished and I love it.

Easy as riding a bike

The work on my bike drawing was hard in the beginning. I don't have much experience in shading but as i got working it was exciting to see my work come to life.  I got to experiment and change my drawing several times before i started the small details that made it look real.  I did not know of the different pencils and shading techniques that thoroughly change the outcome of my picture.  I love how it came out and I hope everyone else does to!

Welcome!

This is going to be an exciting year.  Not only am I a senior but I have all these opportunities i haven't had before.  I have always loved art, whether its drawing on the corner of a notebook or tattoo sketches for friends.  I am excited for this year to be a new art experience for me, to get away from sharpies and pencil and to experiment with paint and metal.  This year will bring about new and exciting things and I can't wait!
