Is it over?

Why has something so good have to end so quickly? This was my first year of art and I feel as if I have more to give.  The fate of not starting art earlier was a bad one, but who says I have to stop here.  I loved many projects we have done this year but also realized somethings that weren't meant for me.  Drawing I fell in love with and I hope it does not stop here.  Also, pottery turned out to be much better after I got used to it.  Throughout the year I grew significantly, and not just in art.  I grew as a person and in how I view myself.  With many great teachers I learned my strengths and my weaknesses. I wish I could live it again, senior year was so much fun.  I never thought, thinking back to my freshman year, that I would have come as far as I have.  Even on a pride level, for one of my art pieces was chosen to be shown in a county wide art show.  I am thankful for the times of learning I have had I just wish this art class could continue another year! I'm actually going to miss this place!

Time capsule

This time capsule signifies many important concepts of my life today.  There are normal items inside, like a dollar bill, and a key chain, but also items important to me.  Right now, these things mean the world to me, however, I wonder if they will in 20 years.  I chose items such as notes from certain days of school or money to signify how life is now.  What I missed school for and also the fact that I can spare a dollar in this age.  I also added a few personal items, things that would remind me of how I was as a person.  This time capsule will truly remind myself what it was like to be in the year 2014 but also what I was like.  The outer coating is something I really liked.  It is a bunch of different colors signaling the happiness in this year, and the diversity around me.  I hope that part of me never changes.

Story time

Just like most families, this one started off with just two. The beginning starts when the two became one, and the life of being a married couple took over. The johnsons were typical in this way, and also in the thought of having a child. After many months she became pregnant and carried the child for 4 months before it could live no longer. They were devestated, however, just months later they tried again. This time, a healthy baby girl was born, and brought them such happiness. And here is where our story begins. This little girl had a special power, only known by her parents and hidden from everyone else. She could transform herself into any shapeof a living creature. The only problem was she could not control it, unexpectedly she would turn from a dog into a lizard back into a girl. The only time her powers would disappear was during a rainstorm. These strange happenings kept the family inside and hidden for years. This locked door brought great saddness upon them and destroyed all chances of a normal life. Unlike most stories, there is no true happy ending, although the family continued to grow in number there always would be their first born, behind a locked door, in the attic away from everyone. This is no story tale, this is a true story from just a few years ago, and she lives on, forever locked in her tower.

Art x 3

In this project we had to pass along the projects to other people, so that when we got the third one, we had to make it ours.  This was the hardest project so far... It was beyond hard to let go of each piece and then somehow turn the last piece into "my own".  The first piece I worked on I had no idea what to do, it was so scary using this blank white paper to create something that was going to completely change two more times.  The second one was a little easier because I had something to work on top of, it felt like a real collage. However, the third one was the hardest.  I received this scary looking eyeball raining down on the letters dream.  I didn't feel that it was anything that I could call my own, so I completely changed it.  It became orange, with pictures of couples, representing the dreams of having a love life in Hollywood.  A few hidden Pictures show through to symbolize the elements included in a celebrity life.  The first layer of words shows through a little and adds to the final touch.  I enjoy my final piece a lot and I hope you do too!

What's my Fortune?

Fortune cookies have always been fun, but I never imagined making art out of them! A lot of my fortunes had to do with "doing my own thing" or "life is going well" or "soon you will receive..." It was all happy things.  Also, when I think of Chinese food and such, I always think yellow and red, so that's what I did.  I drew a simple, nice, and cheery drawing of flowers and layered it with yellow tissue and hidden inside all the fortunes and the Chinese symbols.  I love the language of Chinese because it just looks so cool, so I included the symbols in it too.  And finally, the whole picture is shinny symbolizing the bag the fortune cookies come in.  I tried to make it as happy and cheery as possible!

Pop prints...

I enjoyed the pop prints a lot, we got to cut out own stamps and do with it whatever we were lead to do.  I chose to layer gold and black on top of each other on top of black paper to kind of show stacks of first place ribbons.  As if they were in a messy pile.  My reaction looking back now is that it is very relevant to my life, it shows that no matter how many prizes are won, they are still left in a messy pile proving that it doesn't mean everything.  I hope you all enjoy this piece, because I happen to think it really pops!

Blue blue blue

We got a lot of blue items from the students. I love the range in materials and items that people were inclined to bring in. We have anywhere from a pen to a iron to a mascarade mask. I dont see cluter when I see this table, I just see blue. I love when everything is the same color, it calms the color organizing OCD i have inside me my favorite item would probably have to be the blue mask because it is just so different from everything else that people brought in. On the table there is a lot of repeat topics.  Many students brought in some sort of school supplies, whether its. A pen, a folder, a paper, a lunch tray or a textbook, and so on.  Another category was beauty supply; body mists, and nail polish and perfume and more.  The final popular category was cleaning supplies; sponges and cleaners and water helped fill the table. This shows what kinda of people we are, the kind that our daily lives involve just this, working and school and looks.  We are a moving society that cares a lot about our looks and our appearence and that is replicated in our blue collection.
